We headed out of the Black Hills today.
Bummed to be on the last leg of our trip, but happy to be out of that KOA on steroids.
I'm sorry, that place was out of control too big. A mega-plex, supercenter. Almost 600 campsites. A "resort fee" was charged for each of us. Which we only briefly used the pool since we actually left the campground and did things....unlike most people who tooled around in their rental golf carts ($50 a day) shuttling family & friends to the pool, horse stables, pools, playgrounds, water slides, etc.... It was nuts & we were happy to leave it behind!
So now we're in Douglas, WY & have been relaxing most of the afternoon.
We stopped at the Railroad Museum in town & the boys checked out a few vintage railcars. Keenan loved it. I loved getting some coffee since we ran out this morning. Whew. (And let me just say my $35 REI french press has been an awesome item this trip. Won't leave home without it again!)
Tomorrow we head back to Colorado. We'll be driving past Chugwater, WY again where we had the unfortunate 60mph wind gust that unfurled part of our awning at the start of our trip. And we'll also be heading past Gurnesey State Park as well (the worst night of sleep in hurricane force winds). The forest fire in that area is out now, but the park remains closed.
Now for dinner.
Lots of leftovers: hot dogs, tomato soup, baked bean & salad.
Running out of food.
Means vacation is drawing to a close.
Dang.
