May

May is one of the absolute busiest months.

From start to finish, this one was busy as well.

A good friend of ours found this gem of a picture while looking through photos for her son's graduation:  see Kieran on the far left?  He looks positively thrilled with his 2nd place Math Olympic ribbon.  Seventh grade & he said he had a bad headache.

The final track meet of the regular season was a scorcher of a meet.

These guys on the team are great.  Love the way they all support each other.
The following day was a Friday and Kevin's birthday.  Kieran had his final exam (Organic Chemistry) in the morning, then he loaded his car and headed back home.  So happy to have him home for the summer.

Saturday was Keenan's high school formal.
Dodging the rain made it tricky for photos, but it also took less time.

Pretty sure he had a good time.
The following afternoon he switched outfits & worked some soccer games.  Added bonus was working with one of his classmates & friends.

Monday Kieran had a dentist appointment, then came running inside demanding we come take a look:
the black snake was good size & after checking out our shrubs for a few minutes he headed back toward the trees & away from the house.

Finding this guy was much more my style.
Thursday & Friday brought the Conference track meet.
Keenan had Long jump on Thursday,
and Triple on Friday.
He wanted PR's in both but was little short.
Still good jumps and qualified for States in Triple.
I finally had a chance to make an Olive Oil cake.  Had never made or tried one before and was very happy with how it turned out.
The schedule for States got turned upside down in an effort to avoid the possibility of storms.  Keenan's event got moved to Friday afternoon so Kevin couldn't make it, but Kieran & I got to cheer for him and the rest of the team.

He walked away frustrated because he wanted a PR, but still finished 20th in State.
He's worked hard this season on his form and technique and has big plans for next year.
So proud of him for trying something completely new.

And the boys team placed 2nd in the State!
Now that track has wrapped, Keenan started on his summer dessert list.
This became a strawberry tiramisu & was delicious.

The pups have been thrilled to have people back around the house more, and some nice weather.
Kieran had a week off before starting back a the vet for the summer, and the weather was unseasonably cool one day, so he and I headed to the NC Zoo for the day.
We were shocked how few people were at the zoo and even more shocked at the amount of cicadas buzzing around.
I had forgotten the Brood XIX had emerged a few counties away from us.
These critters were everywhere.
And so incredibly loud.
Everywhere.
It was impressive.

The following week Keenan had Rhetoric awards ceremony.
He earned Academic All Conference award:  two sports plus maintaining at least a 3.5 GPA.
Then he came home, changed, backed out of the garage & bent his car door.
Good thing he's been reffing all spring since he will be paying for it's repair.

Exams began and our Seniors graduated.
Choir sang & it was a great ceremony.
Keenan wrapped up his remaining exams, and is now a rising Junior.
And we closed the month with Kieran dog sitting, and getting rear ended.
He'll be getting a new bumper once Keenan gets his new door.
Hello June.
