We wrapped up the month of May with another milestone for Keenan.
After enjoying a quiet Memorial Day, Keenan headed to school for his final full day of middle school.
Wednesday afternoon was the middle school awards assembly. It's a fun ceremony honoring academic, fine arts, and other individual awards. If your child will be receiving an award, the school lets parents know in advance so you can make plans to attend. Since Kieran began middle school, I usually have tried to attend (with or without a Rayfield receiving an award). So far Keenan has yet to receive an award. This is one comparison Kevin & I never make with the boys-they are very different & unique. One bends toward perfectionism and the other goes with the flow. But as a parent, you still know how much it would mean to your child to get award.
This year we got the email & we all showed up to wait & support Keenan.
And boy did he get an award. One of the big ones (that his brother never received). The Character Award.
This faculty determine this award. Some of the reasons they chose Keenan were: his go with the flow attitude, his quiet leadership in class, loyalty to friends, that he could separate himself and stand firm against peer pressure, and his integrity.
We're so proud of you Keenan. And so thankful for teachers that see and know their students.
Thursday morning Keenan put on his official uniform for the final time (they have a different one for high school). Eighth grade promotion was at ten.
We were happy to have Kevin's parents & Brenda make the drive over for the ceremony.
And Kieran rolled out of bed too.
The ceremony is very similar to the Senior Recognition except what the teachers share about each student is typically a wee bit shorter and they try to focus on recognizing a virtue in that student.
Keenan was thrilled to have one of his favorite teachers have his name.
The rising Freshmen-
Some of his best buds. Two in this pic have Senior sib's & glad they could all keep each other company during all our May events.
