Pancakes for breakfast & discussing our plans for the day.
Hobbes was favoring his front paw but nothing too alarming, so Kieran and I headed to a guitar lesson. After we got back, Keenan said Hobbes had been chewing his paw the whole time we were gone. It was red & swollen, but we couldn't find any injury, sting, or bite. We texted our vet, gave him some Benadryl, left Kieran at home to watch him, and headed to Keenan's soccer game.
By the time we returned, his foot was worse, so off went Kevin with him to the emergency vet.
Five hours later they returned with some pain medication and a possible snake bite.
Sunday it looked like this:
and Monday more of the same, and a trip to our vet.
After checking him out, our vet suspected less of a snake bite and more of an infection.
We left with antibiotics, benadryl dosing, and another visit to the vet on Thursday.
Since it still looked like this on Thursday, it was a good thing.
And not only did Hobbes go, but so did Flopsy.
Ear, eye, and skin infection for this girl.
Center of attention is this one.
So I left the vet with lots of meds, ointments, washes, and creams.
And a chart for dosing all of that over the course of the next week.
They both go back for a recheck on Thursday but I think we're finally stepping in the right direction now.
