Wilmington

Last weekend we headed east to Wilmington. Thankfully we had a beautiful break in the scorching heat and didn't melt while we were there. Enjoyed three nights of outdoor dining--two along the intercoastal waterway and one along the riverfront. Yum. No, Keenan is not in a straight jacket....the boys were checking out the cool pirate exhibit at the Cape Fear Museum. How do you like my little scallywags?

The museum had some pretty nice exhibits. This one was a bit confusing to the boys.....

"A phone booth??? Why wouldn't you just use your cell phone?" "Oh, is this the closet that Superman changes in?" And don't try to explain the operator....

Even Wallace & Flopsy got a vacation. We rented a house near the riverfront that allowed us to bring the dogs (with NO fee!!!). The house was a beautiful 1916 craftsman style bungalow. Let me know if you want any info. Great location, great price, great set up.

We did venture to the beach a couple of times where Keenan decided to finally get more than his toes wet. No one went out very far--heavy undertow & red flags every day.

Sweet brothers.

Gotta love that hair...

We also checked out the Aquarium at Ft. Fisher.

Counting the 8 legs of a horseshoe crab...

Ahhhh, beautiful Greenfield Lake. We rented a paddle boat one morning and cruised around the lake--it's huge with beautiful trees hanging down over the water.

And tons of turtles, and a few of these..

Yes, that's an alligator. And my cell phone somewhere in that water. And a crazy water snake that came two feet out of the water to check us out, and swim toward us. Maybe they needed to use my phone....
