Cicadas

It's summer here in the south and the cicadas are out.

And noisy.

The past couple of weeks Keenan has been asking "What's making that noise?"

Or "Who's doing that noise?"

Cicadas, and lots of them.

Last year Kieran walked over to me with this neat trick.

Yes, that's a cicada exoskeleton (the empty shell). He scared the tar out of me last year, but this year I was ready for it. He's even gotten Keenan into it too.
Of course now Keenan knows what's making that noise, he just can't pronounce it.

"Chicken-cadas" or my personal favorite "Stinkin-cadas".
