tidbits

It's Sunday afternoon......all is quiet (for now) upstairs, Kevin is at the grocery store (bless him, he loves to grocery shop!), and I'm thinking about taking a nap myself. Been a hectic week here....

So far Kevin & I are on track with our training for the big Race (76 days & counting), but it is getting pretty challenging to schedule all of our runs during the week. Runs are progressively getting longer, and it gets light later. Not to mention preschool starting next week. For a couple of days this past week I was thinking of bagging the whole thing all together--couple of bad runs will do it to you!

Thankfully the past 2 runs have gone pretty well-hallelujah! Normally I kind of dread my long runs, but today was (dare I say it) somewhat fun! Don't get me wrong--I was still hurting out there (8 miles), but wasn't complete agony. I took Kevin's recommendation & ran part of a greenway trail here on the north end of town. Was so nice! Really enjoyed the quiet (no cars zooming past!) & the scenery was so pretty! Mist coming off the lakes....tons of birds, cranes, ducks, geese (just can't get away from them). Even saw a chipmunk and two deer. And today for the first time I finally feel like I'll be able to run this race! Woo-hoo!

Now, my poor hubby had a bummer of a run yesterday. He also ran the greenway trail, but since he needed to run about 15 miles he also added 2 other trails further around the lake. He's on the "injured reserve" list now. Toward the end of his run yesterday he tripped over a tree root, was already going downhill & took a spill into a tree. Thankfully, outside of a very bruised shoulder, he's ok. Of course he now says he'll never run a trail again......

Unfortunately he's not the only injured one in the house. I've been dealing with a strained shoulder too (chalk it up to toting 26 lbs. of baby around), Wallace has 2 infected ears, S'Baka has an infection in 1 eye (poor dog can't even see & now she's got an infection!), and Keenan has ringworm on his leg (it's not really a "worm", it's a fungus, like athlete's foot). Joy! Kieran doesn't have any physical issues--just some "authority" issues......
