School started for us a few weeks ago.
Sixth grade for one yahoo & tenth for the other one.
Yahoos. They were both thrilled with their schedules & classes.
Afternoons have been a blur of different practice schedules & locations.
You would think having them both run the same sport we would have some overlap, but three weeks in & it's only happened twice.
But THIS did happen four days into the school year:
Bye bye braces!
And the next day was his first meet.
Maybe it was less metal weighing him down, but he PR'd at the meet.
Last week this guy had his career opening meet in a scorching heat wave.
He was pleased with his time, but then we had to wait for his brother to run.
Zippo shade on that course.
In between meets, toss in lots of practice, driving, and laundry. And homework for the boys.
This past Friday was much more enjoyable. The varsity runners got a slot to run in the Friday Night Lights event held about 20 minutes away from us. I snagged Keenan & one of his buds after their practice & carted Kieran over for his start time.
This was a huge event.
Wave, after wave after wave of 5k's, food trucks, music, lights, fireworks, and 2200 runners.
It was an event.
We had runners in three events, so some of us hit the food trucks a few times.
Finally Kieran's group of runners took to the start, & took off across the field & onto the course.
It was a very different experience from our normal meets.
We enjoyed cheering our runners along to the finish, then packed up the tent, and all headed home.
I'm sure the fireworks were fun, but our crew was beat.
