Universal & Animal Kingdom

Shortly after Florence finally exited NC, we headed down to Florida for the weekend.
Kevin had a conference the following week, so we decided to squeeze in some fun first.
For the past year Keenan has been hoping to visit the water park at Universal Studios (Volcano Bay).
Since his birthday had been pretty low key, and we could get early admission to Volcano Bay, we decided to go for it.
We spent the entire morning enjoying all the crazy slides and aqua coasters, then when the heat & crowds picked up we stopped back at the hotel, changed & headed to the other parks.
Thanks to our Express Pass we had no lines to wait in and got right on several of our favorite rides.
And we avoided some rain showers.

By the time we switched parks & arrived in Hogsmeade, the sun was back out and butterbeer was requested.
After several more rides, we decided an early dinner was in order.
We had covered three parks in one day.
As we were walking to a nearby restaurant....the bottom fell out & it poured.
Even with ponchos on, we got soaked.
 Milkshakes helped for sure.
The next morning we had another early park admission, so we headed straight to Diagon Alley.
We had it & Escape from Gringott's all to ourselves for a while.
 It was lovely.
We spent the rest of our day hopping back & forth between the two parks, riding all the rides we wanted.  And using our wands in Hogsmeade & Diagon Alley.

 And drinking more butterbeer.
Iced and/or frozen.
Then we headed to our hotel, took a car, and arrived at Disney.
After dinner, the weather was perfect for a swim, then we waited to watch the fireworks from Magic Kingdom.
Our final park day was at Animal Kingdom.
We couldn't get fast passes for their new Avatar ride, but we did have early park admission, so we got up before the sun (again), took the shuttle, waited with the masses, lined up with the masses, and waited (again) with the masses for the ride.
All told we waited in line for 30 minutes.
Much better than the 2 hour wait for it the rest of the day.
Just as we were getting on the ride, this kid turned around with a tooth in his hand.
The temperature was super hot & we tried to stay cool with lots of water & frozen treats.

And even in the crazy heat, there were still quite a few animals out for our Safari ride.
We enjoyed some more rides, (except for the Navi River ride-don't even get Keenan started on that ride) frozen drinks, then headed back to our hotel.
A little relaxing, dinner, and post dinner swim before the boys & I packed up & headed home on Sunday.
