Keenan's pick--The Conservators Center

A few years ago we moved away from doing birthday parties for the boys.  Instead we let that child pick a family activity for us all to do together.  Best idea ever.
So Keenan chose to visit The Conservators Center.
None of us had been (but I have a friend who takes care of the Servals there), so we signed up for the family twilight tour.
Our guide (Shawn-request him if you go), was great.  Tons of information, shared the stories of how most animals came to be at the Center, their personality, & lots of cool information about everything.
Plus he answered every question from these two:
We got to hear the Arctic Wolves, Dingo, & Coyote howl & talk to each other.
These two (leopards) never took their eyes off the boys.... very crafty & strong.
And we learned all kinds of stuff about lions, their prides, and how they interact with each other.
And how much they lounge.
 And tigers too.
Hands down, one of the best parts of the tour was hearing the lions "oofing".  Not roaring, but "oofing".  Super loud, & super cool.  And would completely freak me out to hear that sound out in the grasslands of Africa.  Holy cow.
We met Arthur, an extremely rare stripeless tiger.
 He is stunning.
And when he arrived at the Conservators Center, he was an emaciated 19 pounds...
 Not any more.
He was more than happy to show off a bit for us to snag a piece of chicken.
At this point, the sun was setting, and it became trickier to use the camera (couldn't use the flash).
We met some binturongs, lemurs, kinkajou, geoffrey's cats, genets, caracal, ocelot, wallaby, & met my friend by the servals.
So many animals--a lot Kevin & I had not heard of before.  And as we finished our tour, the sun had set and the lions "oofed" and the wolves, coyote, & dingo howled.
Very cool.
The boys are already making plans to go back.
