This past week has been a grind.
Kevin logged over 70 hours in 6 days.
Monday found Loch at the vet with GI distress (and me in distress at cleaning all of it up).
And Kieran finally began work on his Map Project.
The Map Project is a biggie in 5th grade.
They must construct a 3-dimensional map of the U.S..
Bodies of water must be included and labeled, as well as major land formations and mountain ranges.
Each student must choose their "medium." Some popular choices usually involve candy (different types for different elevations), straws, pipe cleaners, cookies, etc..
Kieran decided long ago he wanted to use stacks of paper guitar picks.
What he didn't want to do, until last Sunday, was work more than 5-10 minutes on his project.
Sunday reality set in of the amount of work and the amount of time.
He worked hard that afternoon, then didn't again until Wednesday.
And since then, has worked non-stop.
This was progress on Thursday:
Then yesterday afternoon:And, low and behold, today we finally reached the finish line!!!
(After skipping church.)
Really not sure who is happier at being done with this project--Kieran or me.
When we asked him what he learned from all this, he quickly replied:
"Next time, start my project much sooner."
Amen dear child.
Amen.
