A compliment???

Usually I avoid big department stores.

Yesterday I was in one--with kids in tow.

I had recently cleaned out my wallet and purse and found an old gift card with a large balance on it. I figured I should use it before it was forgotten again.

So there I was, hoping to make a quick purchase and exit.

The boys and I were navigating through the maze of perfumes and cosmetics heading to the escalators (they wanted to buy Kevin some new ties). Here was the following conversation:

Kieran: "Mommy, are you going to buy some new perfume?"

Me: "No."

K: "Well you should. You know women like perfume."

Me: "Yes, some do, but I'm not buying any."

K: "Maybe you should buy some makeup then. All women need makeup."

Me: "No, I'm not buying makeup either. And women don't need makeup."

K: "Yes they do. And you look a lot prettier if you wear makeup too."

Me: "Gee, thanks (I think....)"
