(Part 3 of) May

Monday, May 11th, was a big day for Keenan.

It was Senior Thesis week, and he was second on the schedule.

He got to school early to do a final run through, then we were all ushered into the presentation room.

His topic was Children Should Not Be Allowed Artificial Sweeteners.  He had to present his thesis (with a 12-15 minute minimum/maximum), then take questions from a panel of judges.

He did great with the presentation, swatted down a judge who wanted to be a tad too full of his own knowledge, and handled all other questions easily.

Then we all got to breathe a huge sigh of relief.
Doesn't he look more relaxed?

His Content Specialist is a friend of ours & so thankful for all she helped with.
They had to meet periodically as he worked on Thesis, and she was so helpful.
Thank you!!

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday the rest of the Senior class rotated through their respective Thesis presentations.  Keenan & I went to several others to support his friends.
The joy on their faces once they finished was priceless.
Then after the final Thesis presentation, Keenan and the rest of the Track team loaded the bus and headed to Wingate University for the State track meet.

By God's grace he had qualified for both Long and Triple Jumps.

The team had an easy practice on Thursday evening, then a team dinner at the hotel.

Friday morning, we were at Wingate.
Long Jump was one of the first events.

He landed some solid jumps and we were thrilled he could end this part of his track career on a high note.

Then he had a little over an hour to eat a snack & relax before Triple Jump.
Triple is his favorite event, but has been incredibly challenging this season.  Coming off last year's tendonitis created some mental blocks, and it is a very technical event.
So even though he did not PR, he landed a couple jumps that marked.
And we took it as a win.
Our super, small girls team took Third overall at States.  Small but mighty team.
Boys were projected to finish Forth, but instead took Second.
Huge win.

We love Coach Ranisha.  She's been Keenan's Jump Coach for the past four years.
Told her we will come back to some meets next year to help work the pit.
Just for fun. ;)
Leaving the meet (after 12 hours), the emotions caught up to me.
Hard to believe this chapter has closed.

No time to rest though.
Saturday brought us two graduation parties, another on Sunday, and the arrival of Rebecca & Ted.
