We are heartbroken. Our dear sweet Loch left us Wednesday evening.
After learning his kidneys were failing three weeks ago, we knew our time with him was limited. We are so thankful he was able to join us all on our vacation.
The wee lad loved an adventure & a car ride.
Over the last three weeks, Kieran was giving him IV fluids almost daily, and we were very happy he perked back up while on vacation, and in the days following our return.

But by last weekend, his condition changed. We spent the weekend adding anti-nausea, and appetite stimulant medications, and offering him anything he would like to eat. Monday was a good day with him showing interest in food, but that quickly changed again and we knew it was time to let him go.
Even though we knew it was coming, Wednesday evening was just horribly hard.
The wee little lad was one of a kind.
He loved to travel.
And he was always more content to let his hounds have the limelight. True to his Scottish heritage he was steadfastly loyal to those in his inner circle. Being accepted into that circle is quite a badge of honor.
He's always hated the camera (par for the course with a dog that doesn't like extra attention).

But he would suffer through photo's for us on a rare occasion.
Sweet Loch came to us very underweight, and loved his meals, and snacks.Often he would be escorted to the far part of the yard & forced to walk back inside to get the wee man some exercise. He was not a fan of the great outdoors.
And he liked snow even less.
Oh the ire you would see from him after being forced to go out in yucky weather. The ultimate side-eye.
It's going to be hard to adjust & we miss him terribly. Our little Scottie-speed bump is no longer snoozing by the couch.... or sidling up to you while you're in the kitchen.
Rest well sweet Loch. You were dearly loved.

The hounds know he's gone. The past couple of nights they have been very confused at dinner & snack times. Loch was always their alarm clock for meals, & snacks.
