July began with moving Kieran's latest pet to watch into her garage accommodations.
Meet Suzy.
One of Keenan's friends from school has a family hog farm. She's a two month old piglet that they've been bottle feeding and once she's big enough, will go back to the farm....but will stay on the farm as a breeder and not go to "Freezer Camp" like several of her relatives.
Kieran was thrilled to be asked to take care of Suzy, and assured Kevin and I that he could handle caring for her, and his two other jobs. The dogs wanted absolutely nothing to do with Suzy, and we're pretty sure Hobbes viewed her as prey, or (at best) an intruder.
Our 4th was pretty low key: went to church, Kieran was on weekend feed/care rotation at the vet, then we headed over to the Deese's to set off fireworks. One of Kieran's friends joined us.
The South Carolina fireworks that Kevin & Keenan had picked up were a bit hit. ;) I was just happy there were no injuries to report.
My blackberry vines exploded with berries, and (thanks to Suzy) any damaged or overly ripe berries got disposed of properly.
There were a few afternoons where Kieran's schedule at the vet kept him late, so Keenan was gracious enough to step up and oversee some activity for Suzy.
Unfortunately for Keenan, it had stormed earlier in the day and Suzy found a nice spot of mud/clay down by the basement.
When it was time for Keenan to put her back in her crate..... it was full on pig wrangling.

Lots of squeals, and then finally success.
Keenan plugged away at summer reading, math packets, and helping me with the dogs & house stuff.
Our friends returned from their vacation and came to pick up Suzy.
Kieran really enjoyed taking care of her & Kevin and I were happy to see him handle all of his work & responsibilities so well. Suzy (and her barking zoomies) were missed, but at least we know where to go visit her.
Pretty sure the dogs were ready to pack her crate, and bags for her though.
Flopsy had her physical at the vet the other morning. I scheduled it when Kieran would be working & he was excited to have his girl come in while he was there.
Pretty sure the dogs were ready to pack her crate, and bags for her though.
As I walked her in, Kieran came out to greet us.....and the look of complete confusion on Flopsy's face had us both laughing.
World's colliding, out of context, she was not happy.
But the look on her face as we were leaving and Kieran was walking into the clinic with ANOTHER DOG in his arms was classic.
Disgust, jealousy, complete irritation.
She was NOT happy with him.
So much so that when he got home, she walked into the kitchen, saw him & made eye contact, then pivoted and walked away.
