It's hard to wrap my head around the fact that we have been in some type of shut-down/isolation for over four months.
We just finished week 17.
Our governor has said this week he will make an announcement on public schools for the fall, and if he will continue to keep the state in limbo for another few weeks.
Restaurants and small businesses continue to close, bars, theaters, gyms, fitness centers, martial arts/dance studios, and yes...playgrounds all remain closed.
So we're trying to stay busy, and focus on positives.
Our garden has started producing a steady stream of veggies, and our blackberry canes are in full production.
This past week we've enjoyed a fresh bowl of berries every day.
My favorite blueberry farm has been a great outlet for me to pick berries, and have a few minutes to myself. With all of us at home all the time, it's still an adjustment. The heat and humidity have cranked up, and last week I headed out for my pre-dinner run only to see this down the road from us:
Yes, 18 inch long copperhead.
Freshly dead.
My run that day was less than relaxing. Since then I've been on high alert running past that spot and told everyone to stay on the road while running.
Last weekend we celebrated the 4th of July.
All city sponsored celebrations had long since been cancelled.
We've been restaining and sealing our house the past few weekends, so we did that for a while Friday and Saturday, then joined some friends outside to shoot off the fireworks a few families had bought.
It was a different celebration, but hanging out with friends at least felt more normal for a while.
This past Tuesday Kevin took Kieran to the DMV for his long awaited license.
Bless his heart, having to wait had not been easy and I know this summer has not been one that he had planned.
They got home, Kieran ate some lunch then headed out the door to hang out (outside) at a friends house the rest of the afternoon.
Oh the nerves.
The other afternoon he went and played frisbee golf with friends.
And yesterday he drove himself and Keenan to hang out with friends at their pool.
Three miles away & oh my word.
It's going to take me a hot minute to get used to this.
And I have no photos of this momentous occasion since he won't allow me to take pictures right now.
Trying to respect his boundaries.
Even Keenan has said no to photos lately.
This week begins week 18 and Wednesday marks the adjusted end of Tax Season 2020.
Whew.
