Our morning began chilly, and clear, and we enjoyed it as we relaxed over breakfast.
We got the RV road ready, said goodbye to Ruby's campground, and drove into the park.
Since we had an oversized vehicle, we had to park at the Visitor's Center, then take the park shuttle. It doesn't run the full length of the park, but does stop at my favorite hike:
Queen's Garden & Navajo Loop
It's a pretty popular hike so we were not too surprised to see others along the switchbacks, heading down into the Wall Street section of the trail.
Down in the canyon, the hoodoo's look more like skyscrapers.
We hit the bottom of the canyon, but the connecting section of our loop was closed due to rockslides, so we had to double back the way we came.
Not too disappointing since the views were still amazing.
We explored some more along the rim, and tried to go to Fairyland but got shut out of parking. By then it was well past lunch and we were all pretty hungry. Kevin had heard of a place nearby with wonderful pie, so we headed in that direction.
Bryce Canyon Pines restaurant.
Lunch was delicious but the pies were amazing! And huge!
So good.
Originally we had planned to head from Bryce to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. It was 3-4 hours south. Then the next morning we were headed to Zion-another 3-4 hours away. Even though we all want to explore the North Rim, we decided to pass on it for now and just head directly to Zion.
An easy two hour drive away.
Our drive to Zion took us right by the Kolob Canyon section of the park. One that Kevin & I had never visited. We waited in the road construction, then headed into the canyon & found massive views like this:
and this:
But the pictures (of course) don't do it justice of how massive this canyon is.
The hikes on this side of the park are much less crowded, but more strenuous than we were ready for, so we just enjoyed the views, and might come back to hike on another trip.
