March

March has been a hectic blur of a month.
Kevin has been swimming in tax returns at his office.
The boys have done a great job of staying on top of homework and grades.

Keenan auditioned for a school talent show at the beginning of the month, and he made the cut.
He & one of his best buds had the last audition slots, so they enjoyed hanging out & watching all the other acts.
Kieran got inducted to the Beta Club at school.
All of us showed up for the ceremony.  Even the Tax Man snuck in at the start of the ceremony.
Beta Club is similar to National Honor Society, but also adds service requirements in addition to grades.

After the ceremony ended, Kevin & Keenan left but Kieran enjoyed cake and hanging out with several of his best buds.

Some seriously great kids.
The next night we were back at school for the grammar talent show.
All of the acts were great.  Very diverse with singing, dancing, & music, and the night moved quickly.
Keenan played "The Entertainer" by Scott Joplin.
There was a slight technical malfunction with the keyboard as he sat down to play, but he took it all in stride, then sat back down & played away!

Then he came back for the next to last act.  The much anticipated, long awaited performance of "The Jaws Band".  He & several classmates used the fog machine, lights, different instruments, and vocals to perform the theme from Jaws.  Here they are getting in place before the lights were lowered.  Keenan's on the far left.
It was AMAZING!!  We have it on video, just let us know if you want a screening.
The next night we were back at school for a choir concert for the high school.
And finally that Sunday we had an evening at home.
Good thing since it was St. Patrick's Day & I had brined a brisket.

Keenan was thrilled to fill out his brackets for the NCAA.
Somehow he sweet talked Rebecca & Ted into filling out brackets as well.  Nothing like a little family competition. ;)
Friday Kieran had his first track meet (another one had been rained out), and the weather was gorgeous!!  Beautiful afternoon to hang out at the track!
He ran in the 4x800 relay (4 runners each run 2 laps around the track), and the 1600 (4 laps or 1 mile).  He's been dealing with a deep hamstring irritation, and a popped blister on his foot, so he wasn't thrilled with his times, but still had a good showing.
As soon as his events were finished, we hustled to a friends house so he could shower & change, then hustled down the road for photos.....the 9/10 spring formal was the same night.
They scrub up pretty well, right?
Three out of Kieran's four best buds are sitting next to him here.
The other one was still at the track meet!
I'm not tall enough, nor did I have the energy at this point to try to finagle a full group photo of his grade.....here's my portion of a group shot.
Kevin was still at the office & missed the afternoon's fun.
He did pick up dinner for us & met Keenan & I at home to watch the miserable basketball game by the Heels.  After that, I drove back to pick up Kieran from the dance & joined other parents for the last dance of the evening....with their student.
My boy can do a lovely box step, and carry on a conversation while dancing.
Saturday morning Kevin & Kieran got up early, and ran a 5k.  Doubt either one would say it was their best, but weather was great, and they both enjoyed it.
I was just glad Kevin got to breathe some fresh air for a bit, since he headed right back to his office for the rest of the day.
Keenan had a soccer game in the afternoon & Kieran struggled to stay awake for it.
Thankfully most of the action stayed on the opposite end of the field.
Our defense spent most of the game talking to each other.
And the second half was more of the same.
Good for us.....not so good for the other team.
And today we gave this girl extra love & snuggles.
It's her birthday.
Happy 10th Flopsy-girl.
