Now, at our house Kevin is the designated tooth puller. He got that title by default (sorry hon but thanks for stepping up). For the past few months Kieran has been letting his top two front teeth get looser and looser. Thinking he might take after me since he doesn't want to pull his own teeth either. In his words "I only trust Dad." Well last week trusty Dad was out of town and Kieran was getting antsy to get those teeth out.
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
One afternoon he decided he wanted to tie some string around one tooth, then attach the other end to Wallace (yes that's right), then turn Wallace loose to chase a squirrel. We had to use floss since it was the only thing to fit between his teeth. I tied the knot up at the top of the tooth as tight as I could (competely grossed out & sweating from nerves), then we tied the other end to Wallace's collar, opened up the back door, and he took off....with the string flapping around his head. Slipped right off Kieran's tooth. Might have further contributed to Wallace's OCD though...fed into his fear of flies & things buzzing around his ears....
The next day we tried again (the things you do for your kids). This time it was attached to a door. Keenan was chosen as the one to slam the door. Which he did with force. But no tooth, although Kieran said he felt something pop (blech). And we tried again with no success....and now he has a third loose tooth.....
Which brings us to today. Keenan had a dentist appointment. Of course Kieran turned down the dentists offer to help him make some fast cash. Even with the dentist sweetening the deal with some "magic cream" so you don't feel a thing. But he did trust his brother to do this....
Yup. The hygienist offered to let Keenan polish Kieran's teeth and they both agreed. Keenan took it quite seriously. Asked for glasses and went to work, tongue sticking out of his mouth in concentration. Did pretty well too. Only smeared toothpaste on Kieran's nose and side of cheek but there's a learning curve right (so the hygienist told Kieran). So maybe we have a dentist in our future. Could come in handy....
