Our vacation was about 50-50 with the weather.
Here are some of the pictures from the 2nd half of our week.
The locals were calling the nor'easter "Nor-Ida" (the remnants of Hurricane Ida merged with a Low to form the storm) and Jim Cantore from the Weather Channel was just down the road from us for four days. The final rain tally I heard for the Northern Outerbanks was 12.5 inches of rain. It was quite an experience and probably as close as I would like to come to a hurricane.
The pictures are a little out of order (very sorry-had trouble loading them).....
This was on Saturday. Our last full day of vacation and day four of the storm.
The boys, soundside, in Corolla.
Looking toward Beach Road and one of our favorite restaurants on the right (closed from flooding.....).
Kitty Hawk, NC
Thankfully our favorite pancake place (Stack Em High) was still open even though half of their parking lot was flooded. Yes, this was on Saturday!

Another shot toward Beach Road.
From the Hilton parking lot looking down Beach Road. The aqua building just behind the tree is another favorite restaurant and it was flooded too.
Friday. Waves were still 10-12 feet and full of debris. Chunks of decking, rails, and all kinds of trash were in the breakers & then tossed on shore.
Winds were steady 35-40 mph with gusts around 50.
Keenan loves his airplanes!
Part of the parking lot was flooded. The winds were a tad gusty at the top and shortly after this shot was taken Kieran got blown off his feet by a gust of wind. He took it in stride.....
Just getting out of the car was a bit of a struggle against the wind....
Just getting out of the car was a bit of a struggle against the wind....These were shot on Tuesday afternoon. Clouds had been building, but all was still calm.
Look at the ocean & compare it to some of the other shots.
